Benjamin J. Chung was the beloved son of Sherk and Jenny Chung, two of the Mission’s founding board members. At just 17 years old, Benjamin tragically passed away after a brave battle with illness. Remembered by friends as an exceptionally mature and gentle spirit, he was often described as the kindest soul they had ever met.
Even during his own days of suffering, Benjamin’s thoughts were with others; in his college application essays, he wrote movingly about his desire to bring hope and aid to children facing similar hardships. Today, the Mission proudly carries his name and his beautiful spirit forward, dedicated to fulfilling his vision of bringing comfort, hope, and vital support to children in need.
